I was greatly moved while reading the article, “Patient safety and Quality healthcare” (QUALITY INDIA,
August 2008). The quality of healthcare in India is growing at a fast rate and the article illustrates that fact. The article goes on to investigate the “teething problems’ that the present healthcare system in the country is suffering from. I sincerely believe that patient safety and Quality healthcare form the bedrock of any medical institution and if these two areas would be given more attention, India would gain recognition as a truly healthy nation.

The special report in UALITY INDIA, August 2008, “Quality despite overload”, was interesting. I was amazed to read about the Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya Hospital and its contribution in providing quality paediatric care. This hospital is doing exemplary work in the field of paediatric care and has earned the distinction of becoming the top paediatric hospital in no time.

Pathological laboratories are the “bulwark” on which any form of medical care stands (“Labs race towards Quality”, QUALITY INDIA, August 2008). The country does not have the requisite number of laboratories in comparison to other developed countries. If the country wants to better its medical facilities, pathological laboratories should be given a much-needed boost.
